Manu Park Volunteer –

Manu MANU NATIONAL PARK The Manu National Park (PNM) was created by the Peruvian State on May 29, 1973, by Supreme Decree with an approximate extension of 1,532,806 hectares. This protected natural area (ANP) was created in order to safeguard the rich and varied natural and cultural heritage, to conserve a representative sample of flora and fauna resources, as well as jungle landscapes, low jungle, and jungle eyebrow from the high Andes. Its altitudinal gradient allows it to involve various areas of life, with great biological and cultural diversity; the latter represented by indigenous populations that have inhabited it since time immemorial. In the PNM and its area of influence there are 30 rural communities that maintain Quechua as their mother tongue; and several native Amazonian populations: Machiguengas, Kugapakoris, Huachipaires, Piros and some of no or very little contact such as the Arahuacas and Yaminaguas. Part of the cultural past of these groups is preserved by the Pusharo petroglyphs, in the region of the Palotoa River and the ruins of Mameria. The approximate population of the entire reserve is 13,000 people. Due to its biological and cultural richness, in 1977 the PNM, together with other contiguous areas, was declared by the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program, as Manu Biosphere Reserve (RBM), with an area of 1,881,200 ha. The MBR is the largest of the Biosphere Reserves in the Amazon. Subsequently, in 1987, UNESCO itself incorporated the PNM into the list of Natural Heritage of Humanity.Park Volunteer 2

This is an impressive sanctuary within the Manu National Park. The Lodge is one of the principles of Manu and is therefore well established and comfortable in the long term. The dining room and the leisure area is excellent. The rooms are comfortable and create a connection with the natural environment. To be able to hear, see and experience the surrounding jungle is the reason why we chose to enter Manu National Park, to be part of nature for a while. We appreciate the staff render a friendly and positive attitude, always ready to help and inform. The food was excellent, with fresh produce and local specialties cafes. When visiting Manu ask to feel as if you want a 5 star accommodation experience or to connect with nature in a sustainable way, if the latter is an answer then choose Manu Park Lodge as the best option.
